Herer’s passion for truth led him to research ancient texts, government archives, and scientific studies, culminating in his groundbreaking book The Emperor Wears No Clothes, first self-published in 1985. The book documented hemp’s historical importance in agriculture, industry, and medicine — and revealed how political and corporate interests fueled its global prohibition. Over time, it became the “Bible of the hemp movement,” inspiring activists, scientists, and policymakers around the world to rethink the narrative around cannabis.
